The Alabama-Birmingham Blazers get ready to take the floor with the Florida International Golden Panthers at Bartow Arena.
The Florida International Golden Panthers are at the point of the season where they need more from their scoring then 63 points with too many bigger offenses in th CUSA. The defense is holding the line at 62 points but Middle Tennessee State dominated both ends of the floor in Thursday's 65-52 victory. The Blue Raiders took a 13 point lead with them in to the break and held serve the rest of the way with a 52%-44% shooting edge equating to ten more field goals. Dennis Mavin was a one man show for the Florida International attack with a game high 31 points on 8-14 in 40 minutes. Adrian Diaz chipped in with eight points but the rest of the team mustered just 13 points.

The Alabama-Birmingham Blazers have generally been a strong squad but 2014-15 has been a rebuilding process and it shows in their 6-9 record. With conference play just beginning there is plenty of time to turn things around but they can't get outscored 70-65. The Blazers just might be turning things around with consecutive conference victories after upending visiting Florida Atlantic 66-57. The defense limited the Owls to 38% from the floor and 5-22 from long range while hitting at 44% with a 14-8 mark at the charity stripe being crucial. Tosin Mehinti and Robert Brown led the Blazers scoring with 13 points apiece followed by Hakeem Baxter with ten points and six pulls and Chris Cokley with eight points.
The Golden Panthers are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 vs. Conference USA and 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 road games. Florida International are 6-2-2 ATS in their last 10 games overall and 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 Saturday games. The Blazers are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 home games vs. a team with a losing road record and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 Saturday games while going 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games following a S.U. win. I think this line is about right and I belive FIU can make the Blazers sweat so I'll take the points...
