The Line: Louisville Cardinals -23 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
The Virginia Tech Hokies face a tall task in the #5 Louisville Cardinals at the KFC Yum! Center on Tuesday.
The Virginia Tech Hokies are staying afloat with an 8-7 record but the question is can this team stay above water with the rugged ACC schedule about to get hot and heavy. The Hokies appear to have the offensive firepower to be competitive at nearly 70 points but getting both ends of the floor on the same page has been an issue during a three game skid that was capped off with an 86-75 defeat at Florida State. The Seminoles simply made shots at 52% and were 8-16 from beyond the arc to outdistance the 41% shooting Hokies. Virginia Tech had the top two scorers on the floor with Justin Bibbs and Adam Smith pumping in 25 and 24 points but no other player managed more then six points.

The Louisville Cardinals might have left the AAC for the Atlantic Coast but that's the only thing that has changed with the Cardinals still a national title threat with a top ten ranking. UL can do everything well but their normally dependable defense struggled in a 71-70 loss at North Carolina to fall to 14-2. The Cardinals won the shooting battle 47.5%-43% but 15 offensive rebounds helped give the Tar Heels eight more looks at the basket which kept UNC alive. The Cardinals received a game high 25 points wiith five yanks and five assists on 10-19 shooting followed by a 19 point, five helper effort from Chris Jones. Chinanu Onuaku and Montrezl Harrell combined for 17 points and 13 rebounds but UL received no scoring outside of the starting five.
The Hokies are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS loss and 4-10 ATS in their last 14 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600. Virginia Tech are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games vs. a team with a winning home record and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 Tuesday games. The Cardinals are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 vs. Atlantic Coast and 4-11 ATS in their last 15 games following a S.U. loss. Louisville are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS win and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record. Louisville is easily good enough to cover if they want to or just be happy with an 18 point win...
