The Houston Cougars go on the road to take the floor with the East Carolina Pirates in AAC action.
If the Houston Cougars are going to make an impact in the American Athletic they will need a boost at both ends of the floor as 68 points scored and allowed won't get the job done. It hasn't been a good start to the conference schedule who fell to 0-4 after 62-44 defeat at the hands of visiting Memphis on Sunday. The Tigers were up six at the break and took control in the final 20 minutes on 43% from the field which looked golden when compared to the Cougars 33% with their 18 turnovers. Jherrod Stiggers topped the Houston attack with 13 points on 4-11 shooting and five turnovers with Danrad Knowles next in line with eight points and seven rebounds but there wasn't a lot of offense coming from Houston.

The East Carolina Pirates are very similar to their counterparts in that they need more offensive punch and more stopping power on defense. The proof is in the numbers with the Pirates both scoring and giving up 67 points. The offense never got going in a 69-48 loss at Cincinnati with the Bearcats showing they could still D it up. ECU fell behind by 16 after 20 minutes and never made the Bearcats sweat with just 27% accuracy which nullified eight extra looks. Cincinnati hit at a 47% clip and owned the backboards 41-30 but it was arbitrary with only one ECU player shooting 50%. Terry Whisnant and BJ Tyson combined for 24 points with Tyson pulling in a team high seven rebounds. Lance Tejada chipped in with nine points but nobody else scored more then five.
The Cougars are 8-2-1 ATS in their last 11 games following a double-digit loss at home and 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record. Houston are 2-7 ATS in their last 9 games following a ATS loss and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games. The Pirates are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400 and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 home games. East Carolina are 28-57-4 ATS in their last 89 home games vs. a team with a losing road record and 7-18-2 ATS in their last 27 games after scoring less than 50 points in their previous game. Both teams have similar numbers an Houston is 10-2 ATS in this match up so I'll take the points...
