The Cincinnati Bearcats look for another big defensive effort versus the Memphis Tigers at FedEx Forum.
The Cincinnati Bearcats lost enough talent to graduation to have most people believing this season would be a rebuilding year. It doesn't look that way so far with a ferocious defense that allows under 55 points leading the way to an impressive 11-4 record. Defense wasn't enough in a 62-56 defeat at Connectcut on Saturday that put an end to a four game winning streak. The Huskies connected at 46% to give them a few more baskets over the 39.6% shooting Bearcats which was the difference. Troy Caupain was the only player to crack double figures in scoring with 14 points and five yanks on 6-15 with Shaquille Thomas turning in an eight point performance. Altogether five players scored between 5-7 points.

The Memphis Tigers are similar to their counterparts in that they lost enough talent to where the experts don't think they will be a factor in the AAC. The Tigers are surviving at 9-6 with 67 points scored and only 61 given up. Memphis turned up the defensive intensity in a 62-44 rout of Houston Sunday to even their conference record at 2-2. The visitors sank shots at 43% with the Cougars held to a mere 33% which equaled a decisive seven more makes from the field. Austin Nichols gave the Tigers a contest best 16 points and seven rebounds on 6-13 from the floor. Markel Crawford followed with 12 points with Kedren Johnson and Shaq Goodwin tossing in ten points and eight points respectively while Goodwin posting five boards.
The Bearcats are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games overall and 6-15 ATS in their last 21 road games vs. a team with a winning home record. Cincinnati are 6-16 ATS in their last 22 road games and 3-9 ATS in their last 12 games following a S.U. loss. The Tigers are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games after allowing less than 50 points in their previous game and 3-9 ATS in their last 12 games following a S.U. win. Memphis are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record and 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games following a ATS win. Both teams are probably better then what most expected and the Bearcats maybe a bit more...
