The Providence Friars meet the Creighton Bluejays at the CenturyLink Center in Big East action.
The obvious goal for the Providence Friars is to win the Big East crown but with Villanova ruling the roost a spot in the top four is a doable goal although the conference has plenty of talent so there is little room for error. The Friars fell to 3-2 in league action after a 83-70 loss to visiting St John's on Wednesday. The Red Stom took a 12 point lead in to the second half and never gave it up. The visitors were hot from the floor at 51% and nailed 10-17 threes while the Friars hit at under 40% and were 6-21 from long range. LaDontae Henton gave Providence a game high 22 points on 9-17 shooting followed by a 17 point, ten assist effort from Kris Dunn. Tyler Harris netted 12 points while Ben Bentil chipped in with eight points and hauled in ten rebounds.

Just a quick glance at the Creighton Bluejays record tells us they miss former star Doug McDermott although I'm sure there is zero sympathy coming from their Big East rivals. For over two weeks the Bluejays have not been able to get their scoring and defense on the same page and the result has been five consecutive league defeats. The Jays have dropped back to back one point decisions after a 53-52 loss at Marquette Wednesday. The Warriors won the shooting battle 42%-36% with Creighton posting ten more looks to stay close. Ricky Kreklow was the go to scorer with 13 points on 5-9 shooting in 22 minutes while Toby Hegner netted ten points and snared six boards. Will Artino chipped in with eight points and six boards as he and Kreklow were the only players to hit at 50%.
The Friars are 4-0-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a double-digit loss at home and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 Saturday games. Providence are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games overall and 6-2 ATS in their last 8 vs. Big East. The Bluejays are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following a S.U. loss and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 Saturday games. Creighton are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 vs. Big East and 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record. It's tough to beat a team twice in a matter of weeks which the Friars are attempting but they won by DD the first time and nothing has changed...
