The Eastern Michigan Eagles look to get back in the win column when the Northern Illinois Huskies visit.
The Northern Illinois Huskies have been reasonably competitive in most games throughout 2014-15 but that was far from the case Wednesday when they were throttled by Buffalo 82-63 as a 9.5 point road dog. The Bulls dominated from the start with a 21 point first half lead from which NIU never recovered. UB nailed half their looks and sank nine more free throws to easily outdistance the 38.5% shooting Huskies who totaled eight more shots but needed far more. Anthony Johnson shouldered the Northern Illinois offense with a game high 21 points and five yanks on 9-16 from the field followed by a 16 point, five pull effort from Aaric Armstead. Marin Maric chipped in with eight points and a game high nine rebounds but there was not enough secondary scoring to stay competitive.

The Eastern Michigan Eagles are well equipped to compete in the MAC with plenty of scoring potential combining with a defense that allows less then 60 points. The Eagles faltered late in a 65-59 loss at Kent State Thursday in which a ten point lead disappeared in a 38-22 scoring spree by the Golden Flashes over the final 20 minutes. Kent held a slight 42%-39% edge in marksmanship with three more bombs being about the only difference. Mike Talley came off the bench to lead the Eastern Michigan offense with 16 points on 4-6 from the field with a game high four steals. Karrington Ward added 12 points and hauled in eight rebounds followed by six point efforts from Anali Okoloji and Tim Bond.
The Huskies are 12-2-3 ATS in their last 17 vs. Mid-American and 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 Saturday games. NIU are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS loss and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600. The Eagles are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games following a ATS loss and 2-5-1 ATS in their last 8 home games. EMU are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 vs. Mid-American. My thinking here is Eastern Michigan is the better team but for whatever reason Northern Illinois plays the Eagles tough...
