The Valparaiso Crusaders have one of the best combinations of scoring and defense in the Horizon League which is why their record stands at an impressive 17-3. The Crusaders are riding the momentum of four consecutive victories and a 3-1 start to the conference schedule after knocking off Wright State 66-56 Saturday on the road. Valpo led by a basket at the half before pulling away late behind a suffocating defense that allowed 37.7% shooting to the Raiders while connecting at 40.7% themselves with a 19-9 edge at the stripe. Vashil Fernandez paced a balanced attack with 14 points and nine rebounds while Alec Peters and Tevonn Walker adding eleven points and 12 rebounds. Darien Walker and E. Victor Nickerson added 13 and eight points with seven players scoring overall.

The Penguins are being outscored 73-72 which makes it difficult to win consistently but at the same time makes them dangerous with the ability to score in bunches. Once the Vikings built a nine point lead at the half the visitors relied on 48% shooting to score while YSU gave the ball away 17 times to negate 49% accuracy. Marcus Keene led the offense with 14 points followed by a 12 point effort from Osandai Vaughn while Shawn Amiker Jr. and Bobby Hain netted eleven points apiece with Hain hauling in eight rebounds.

Penguins are 4-1-2 ATS in their last 7 Tuesday games and 3-7-1 ATS in their last 11 games following a ATS loss. Youngstown State are 6-17-3 ATS in their last 26 vs. Horizon League and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following a S.U. loss.
