The Long Beach State 49ers look to remain hot when the Cal State Northridge Matadors take the floor.
The Long Beach State 49ers don't have impressive numbers as they have been outscored 69-67 with a 9-11 record however they have played the number three strength of schedule. The 49ers have won four of five and are off to a 3-1 start in the Big West after routing Santa Barbara 69-53. LBSU jumped to a 14 point lead at the intermission and played the Gauchos even the rest of the way. UCSB never found a groove at the offenseive end with 25% shooting which made the 49ers 42.6% look red hot. Mike Caffey was the go to scorer with a game high 22 points on 8-12 accuracy which included four threes. David Samuels was next in line with 15 points and a game high ten rebounds while Tyler Lamb added ten points and five yanks. Long Beach emptied the bench with 13 getting floortime or this could have been worse.

The Cal State Northridge Matadors can't afford to fall too far behind in the conference and try to play catch up because their numbers tell us that is not a strength. The Matadors have issues at both ends of the floor with 71 points allowed and just 65 scored so both areas need a boost. Neither happened in Thursday's 80-49 defeat at the hands of UC Irvine who took a 21 point lead heading to the locker room with CSN unable to mount a comeback. The Anteaters sank half their looks including 8-19 from distance with CSN countering with less then 30% marksmanship and a 1-10 mark on threes. Aaron Parks gave the offense 18 points and six pulls on 4-10 shooting with Stephan Hicks adding 14 points and five boards on 6-13. Tre Hale-Edmerson chipped in with eight points and six boards with the rest of the team scoring eight.
The 49ers are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400 and 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record. LBSU are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 vs. Big West and 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games following a ATS win. The Matadors are 10-3 ATS in their last 13 vs. Big West and 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games after scoring less than 50 points in their previous game. Northridge are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a losing road record and 1-5-1 ATS in their last 7 games following a S.U. loss. Long Beach State loos as if they are more tested and the numbers point to them...
