The Northern Illinois Huskies look to get back in the MAC race with a win over the Miami (Ohio) Redhawks.
The Miami (Ohio) Redhawks are struggling to score and defend which has been a combination that has led to a 6-12 record. That trend continued in a 69-58 defeat at the hands of visiting Western Michigan on Wednesday. A 48-35 second half from the Broncos broke open a tight game that saw both teams make shots at around 35%. The difference was WMU hit a few more field goals, threes and free throws. LJ Livingston gave the Redhawks 12 points and seven boards on 3-5 shooting with the duo of Eric Washington and Jaryd Eustace combining for 21 points and six pulls each. Kalief Wright added eight points and six rebounds with Will Sullivan and Geovonie McKnight netting seven points apiece.

On first glance the Northern Illinois Huskies need a boost in scoring to compete with some of the bigger offenses in the MAC as 65 points scored and allowed will be tough to win on consistently. The defense came through Wedneday in a 64-61 victory over visiting Akron that upped their conference record to 2-3 and kept them in the mix early on. Travon Baker shouldered the scoring load with a game high 21 points and five helpers on 6-7 with Aaric Armstead tossing in eleven. Marin Maric netted eight points and snagged eight rebounds with nine players scoring overall.
