The Rice Owls don't score a ton of points at around 63 points which generally puts a huge amount of pressure on an adequate defense and their record says that has not been enough. The defense held their own in Thursday's 58-56 victory where both squads connected at around 45% in a slow half court game. The key for the Owls was shot selection with three more bombs and three more makes at the charity stripe making the difference in a close contest. The Owls received a game high 19 points from Marcus Jackson n a 5-9 performance from beyond the arc with Seth Gearhart posting 16 ponts and six boards. Bishop Mency and Andrew Drone added seven and six points while combining for 13 rebounds.
The Bulldogs are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 Saturday games and 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record. The Owls are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600 and 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record. Rice are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS loss and 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games overall.
