The Long Beach State 49ers hope to continue their hot start in the Big West versus the Cal State Fullerton Titans.
The Long Beach State 49ers non conference wasn't good to them but that's because it was incredibly tough. The conference schedule has been much better where both ends of the floor have made contributions leading to a 4-1 record. The 49ers are coming off a tough 64-58 win atCal State Northridge where they made a ten point lead at the break hold up as a six point favorite. The offense didn't light up the scoreboard at 39% but they did D it up by limiting the Matadors to just 27.8% accuracy which equated to seven more baskets. Travis Hammonds led a balanced attack with 16 points in 17 minutes while Mike Caffey tossed in 14 points. Tyler Lamb added ten points and five yanks folowed by David Samuels and Branford Jones with Samuels hauling in a contest high 16 rebounds.

The Cal State Fullerton Titans need a boost at both ends of the floor and moreso offensively before they fall too far behind the rest of the conference. The Titans have been struggling to put up points which has played a large part in an 0-5 start to the conference schedule. The scoring woes continued in a 68-49 defeat at Santa Barbara where the Gauchos erased a five point deficit with a 37-13 second half run. UCSB connected at 45% from the floor while the Titans stalled on 30.5% accuracy which negated eight more looks. Cal State Fullerton received 21 points on 7-18 by Laneryll Johnson who also sank four bombs. Moses Morgan tossed in ten points followed by a seven point, 12 rebound performance from Steve McClellan on 3-4 marksmanship. The issue was the remainder of the team mustered eleven points.
The 49ers are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games following a ATS loss and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record while going 3-8 ATS in their last 11 vs. Big West. The Titans are 8-19-1 ATS in their last 28 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record and 16-39-2 ATS in their last 57 home games vs. a team with a losing road record. CSF are 6-20-1 ATS in their last 27 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400 and 1-4-2 ATS in their last 7 games following a ATS loss. Laying points on the road always rubs me the wrong way but I prefer to take my chances with the 49ers...
