The Weber State Wildcats visit the Sioux Center to face the North Dakota Fighting Sioux Thursday night.
I think the experts were a bit off when they said the Weber State Wildcats could challenge in the Big Sky as this year appears be part of a rebuilding process. Opponents are averaging around 69 points with their defense struggling to often. This unit had too many issues in a 78-71 defeat to visiting Sacramento State Saturday with the Hornets riding a 41 point second half. The Wildcats hit shots at a very respectable 47% with 17 offensive boards leading to ten more looks but that wasn't enough with the Hornets sinking shots at nearly 60%. Joel Bolomboy gave the Wildcats 21 points and 13 rebounds with Jeremy Senglin tossing in 15. Chris Golden and Jaylen Johnson-Coston combined for 21 points to round out the top scorers.

The North Dakota Fighting Sioux are in much the same position as their counterparts with a struggling defense that allows around 71 points but the issues are further complicated because this team can also struggle scoring. The Fighting Sioux are hoping to strighten out the defensive end of the floor after falling at Eastern Washington 102-80 where the Eagles exploded for 67 points over the final 20 minutes. North Dakota stayed alive for awhile on 46% accuracy but EWU would not be denied on nearly 56% shooting with huge advantages from beyond the arc and at the line. Jaron Nash gave North Dakota 24 points and eight rebounds followed by a 16 point, eight board and seven assist performance from Quinton Hooker. Lenny Antwi tossed in 13 points with Estan Tyler and Terrel de Rouen adding nine points apiece.
The Wildcats are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 road games and 2-7 ATS in their last 9 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record. Weber State are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following a S.U. loss and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Fighting Sioux are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record and are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games after allowing more than 90 points in their previous game while going 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games following a SU loss of more than 20 points. Neither team looks very attractive and putting money on either is risky...
