The Austin Peay Governors will be looking for a spark from the Dunn Center crowd when the Tennessee-Martin Skyhawks come to town.
The Tennessee-Martin Skyhawks are defintely improved from the past several years as they outscore teams 70-63 which is a number that was reversed in prior seasons. The Skyhawks gave Ohio Valley West leader Murray State a run for their money before falling 65-62 on the road Saturday as an eleven point underdog. UTM fell behind by eleven at the half with a second half rally running out of steam. Both teams connected in the 41%-42% range with the Racers sinking a few more threes to squeeze out the win. Deville Smith led the offense with 20 points followed Marshun Newell adding 18 points and five yanks. Twymond Howard and Javier Martinez tossed in 13 and eight points with five pulls apiece.

The Austin Peay Governors are trying to get out of the OVC West basement and if they do the scoring and defense will have to step up consistently going forward. The past few weeks have not been kind with the Governors dropping four of five after a 70-64 loss to Southeast Missouri State. The Redhawks fired away at 56.5% but gave the ball away 17 times to keep the 38% shooting Governors in the game with 12 extra looks at the basketball. Chris Horton carried the offense with a game high 23 points with a monster 18 rebounds on 10-21 from the floor with Ed Dyson tossing in 12 points. Chris Freeman netted ten points and grabbed six boards while Jeremy Purvis chipped in with nine points and posted five helpers.
The Skyhawks are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall and 4-0 ATS in their last 4 vs. Ohio Valley. Tennessee-Martin are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 road games and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS win. The Governors are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games following a S.U. loss and 3-9 ATS in their last 12 games overall. Austin Peay are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games following a ATS loss and 1-9 ATS in their last 10 home games. I am leaning to the Skyhawks but use caution because UTM still has a way to go...
