The Northern Illinois Huskies and Bowling Green Falcons both hope to get on a roll when they meet Saturday night.
The Bowling Green Falcons need to string some wins together to get in the MAC East race and if they do it will likely be their defense that leads the way because defense is what this team is known for. The Falcons squeezed out a 76-74, overtime victory at Central Michigan on Wednesday night. The defense played well enough with the Chippewas held to 41% and forced in to 16 turnovers while the offense sank shots at 52.8% which offset 24 giveaways and 13 more CMU looks. Anthony Henderson led the offense with 20 points and five yanks on 8-12 shooting followed an 18 point effort from Jehvon Clarke. Zack Denny was next in line with 12 points and seven boards while Richaun Holmes and Delvin Dickerson added ten points each and a combined 12 rebounds.

The Northern Illinois Huskies are one of those teams that are going to have difficulty beating the top teams in the conference consistently enough to capture the title. I do think they can get above .500 and draw some interest from one of the postseason tournaments but I think more offense is needed to reach these goals. The Huskies snapped a three game skid with a 69-67 victory at Miami (Ohio) in a battle of halfcourt attacks where both teams hit shots in the 52%-54% range. The Redhawks sank a few more baskets but NIU won it with six more makes at the stripe. Travon Baker led three double digit scorers with 16 points and five helpers while Anthony Henderson and Aaric Armstead netted 12 points apiece. Five others contributed between 4-7 points to give the offense some valuable secondary production.
The Falcons are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600 and 6-1-1 ATS in their last 8 road games vs. a team with a winning home record. Bowling Green are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 Saturday games and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 road games. The Huskies are 16-6-4 ATS in their last 26 vs. Mid-American and 7-3-3 ATS in their last 13 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600. Northern Illinois are 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 Saturday games and 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 home games. The Falcons and their defense is where I'm looking because they have to win...
