The Line: Loyola of Chicago Ramblers -5.5 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
The Joseph J. Gentile Arena and the Loyola (Chicago) Ramblers host the Southern Illinois Salukis in MVC action.
The Southern Illinois Salukis are all about controling the pace and hoping they can protect the ball and make some shots. The Salukis score 60 points and allow the same and that's tough consistently win with. Unfortunately they haven't been winning with four consecutive defeats until Saturday's 65-59 win over visiting Illlinois State. The defense did their job by limiting the Redbirds to 37% shooting and 16 turnovers which made the 40% marksmanship of SIU and a 22-13 advantage at the foul line winning numbers. Anthony Beane Jr. poured in a contest best 23 points on 7-11 from the floor with Deion Lavender tossed in 15 points and snared seven boards. Jordan Caroline added 12 points and six pulls with the rest of the team scoring 15 points.
USA TODAY Sports
The Loyola (Chicago) Ramblers looked like they were going to be a handful once the Missouri Valley schedule began but they have been struggling with losses in seven of ten. Putting the ball in the basket has been an issue in this span and continued to be in a 79-65 defeat at the hands of visiting Indiana State where the defense also struggled. LCU shot a solid 47% and managed 13 more looks at the basket although that paled next to the Sycamores 57.5% accuracy which included a 10-19 from beyond the arc. Earl Peterson was the Ramblers lone double digit scorer with 21 points and five yanks on 9-17 from the floor. Donte Ingram netted eight points while the tandem of Ben Richardson and Devon Turk tossed in seven points apiece with Turk posting a game high seven rebounds.
The Salukis are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS win and 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record. Southern Illinois are 10-4 ATS in their last 14 games following a S.U. win and 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Ramblers are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games following a S.U. loss and 6-14 ATS in their last 20 games following a double-digit loss at home. Loyola (Chicago) are 7-18-1 ATS in their last 26 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS loss. Neither has done a lot of winning lately but I prefer the points because the Salukis do keep things close...
