The Cal Poly Mustangs look to avoid getting swept by the Cal State Northridge Matadors at Mott Gym.
I think it's a stretch to say the Cal State Northridge Matadors will suddenly get hot and mak a run in the Big West because they have dropped six in a row and eight of ten. The Matadors have been outscored 71-64 on the season and have been hurt by a lack of scoring punch in conference play. Nether end of the floor were able to get going in Saturday's 68-55 defeat to league giant UC Davis with the Aggies leading the shooting battle 49%-44% and pulling away with an 11-2 advantage from long range. Stephan Hicks paced a balanced attack with 13 points and five pulls on 6-13 shooting followed by Tre Hale-Edmerson and Devonte Elliott with 12 points apiece with Elliott hauling in a game high nine rebounds. Aaron Parks chipped in with eleven points with seven points combined coming from two others.

I don't know if the defensive minded Cal Poly Mustangs can reverse their fortunes and become a factor in the Big West. The Mustangs are 3-6 in conference action and are on a three game slide that needs to end or their season might be lost. CP is coming in off a 59-56 defeat at the hands of visiting Hawaii where they slowed UH down yet they still sank 49% while the Mustangs never found the shooting touch on just 28% marksmanship although their 11-23 performance from beyond the arc and six more makes at the charity stripe. Reese Morgan was the Mustangs go to scorer on 3-5 on threes with Ridge Shipley adding 12 points and six assists. Joel Awich provided some muscle in the paint with ten points and a contest high ten rebounds but the offense needed more punch.
The Matadors are 7-20 ATS in their last 27 games following a ATS loss and 5-15-1 ATS in their last 21 games overall. Northridge are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 Thursday games and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record. The Mustangs are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 home games and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400. Cal Poly are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 home games vs. a team with a losing road record and 8-17 ATS in their last 25 vs. Big West. Big chalk and the slow footed Mustangs seem like oil and water to me so think twice...
