The Pacific Tigers gun for the upset of the Brigham Young Cougars at the Marriott Center Saturday night.
It has been a long season for the Pacific Tigers and it just seems to get longer and longer. The Tigers are stck in the West Coast baseent and are currently mired in a six game slide following a 68-48 defeat at San Diego as they struggled again to get their scoring and defense on the same page. The Toreros were up nine at the break and never let up until the final buzzer sounded with 49% shooting including a 9-20 performance from distance doing far too much damage for the 34% shooting Tigers to deal with. TJ Wallace and Ray Bowles were the only players to score in double figures with eleven and ten points while combining for 12 rebounds. Gabriel Aguirre added eight points and five yanks but nobody else scored more then five points.

I think the Brigham Young Cougars will certainly finish in the top four of the conference so the only question for me is whether it will be second or third because Gonzaga will not fall from first. The Cougars top ranked offense is the obvious strength with an 85 poinnt average which has helped the team to wins in four of five capped off by a surprisingly easy 82-60 rout of second place Saint Mary's. A 43-28 second half burst broke open a competitive contest with the Gaels limited to 34% from the floor with BYU connected at a meek 40.7% but going 15-29 from beyond the arc. Tyler Haws poured in a game high 21 points with Chase Fields and his 18 points being next in line. Anson Winder and Skyler Halford netted 13 points apiece with Halford posting five pulls and seven helpers.
The Tigers are 4-10 ATS in their last 14 games after scoring less than 50 points in their previous game and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600. Pacific are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games vs. a team with a winning home record. The Cougars are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games following a ATS win and 7-22 ATS in their last 29 games following a SU win of more than 20 points. BYU are 2-8 ATS in their last 10 home games and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400. Nothing to cap here as BYU covers if they want or just wins big...
