The Line: College of Charleston Cougars -5.5 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
The Elon Phoenix aim to stay out of the Colonial basement when they visit TD Arena to tangle with the Charleston Cougars.
On the year the Elon Phoenix have been outscored 71-70 so scoring the basketball would seem to be a specialty. However, not in conference action where the offense has been erratic while opponents have had no issue scoring which explains their 3-11 record in the Colonial. The slumping Phoenix fell for the 6th straight time in an 86-75 loss to visiting James Madison with the Dukes making just about every shot they took on 61% marksmanship while the Phoenix hit at 43% which squandered 17 more looks at the basket. Elon received 18 points, five yanks and six assists from Elijah Bryant with Austin Hamilton next in line with 16 points and five helpers. Dmitri Thompson tossed in 14 with Kevin Blake netting ten points while three others combined for 17 points.

The Charleston Cougars are last in the conference mainly because of their lack of consistent offense. The Cougars have often struggled to reach 60 points which makes it a tough job for the defense to win games themselves which hasn't happened. CofC once again had offensive problems in a 53-50 loss to visiting Towson for loss number three in a row. This wasn't a game for fans of offense with both teams sinking shots at 33% with a 3-17 perfomance from distance costing the Phoenix while the Tigers came up with a 14-9 edge at the charity stripe to squeeze by. Charleston was led in the scoring column with 13 points, five pulls and four assists with Canyon Barry adding eleven points and five pulls. Four others contributed between 5-7 points but options were limited.
The Phoenix are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of less than .400 and 12-4 ATS in their last 16 road games. Elon are 6-15 ATS in their last 21 games following a double-digit loss at home and 6-19 ATS in their last 25 vs. Colonial Athletic Association. The Cougars are 16-33-2 ATS in their last 51 games following a S.U. loss and 15-34-2 ATS in their last 51 games following a ATS loss. Charleston are 15-35-2 ATS in their last 52 home games and 16-38-1 ATS in their last 55 games overall. Elon has been a non factor in this match up but laying points with Charleston is an awful alternative and the Phoenix be even worse...
