USA TODAY Sports

The Rhode Island Rams improved to 17-6 (9-3 A-10 A-10) on the season after defeating the Saint Louis Billikens, 81-68, this past Saturday. Rhode Island shot 47.1% from the field and 40.0% (6-15) from beyond the arc in the victory. Leading the way for the Rams was Jared Terrell who had 23 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals. Rhode Island is ranked 70th in the RPI Standings and has played the 187th ranked SOS. On the season, the Rams have been led by E.C. Matthews (16.3 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 2.0 apg) and Hassan Martin (12.0 ppg, 7.6 rpg, 3.1 bpg). Rhode Island is averaging 67.6 ppg (ranked 172nd) on 45.9% shooting (ranked 68th). The Rams average 13.3 apg (ranked 124th) and commit 14.1 turnovers per game (ranked 289th).  Rhode Island is holding their opponents to an average of 58.7 ppg (ranked 16th) on 40.0% shooting (ranked 63rd).  The Rams are holding teams to 29.6% shooting from beyond the arc (ranked 8th) and average 5.8 bpg (ranked 10th).

The Minutemen are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 games following a ATS loss and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 road games. The Rams are 14-6 ATS in their last 20 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record however, just 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games following a S.U. win.

UMass looked a bit sluggish against Duquesne however, was able to do enough to earn their 6th straight win. Rhode Island has been great at home this year (11-1 on the season) and was able to cruise to a victory behind a solid defensive effort that forced Saint Louis into committing 22 turnovers. Rhode Island has one of the best defensives in the land however, UMass was able to overcome a poor shooting night against Rhode Island earlier this season en route to a 60-56 victory at UMass. I think this game will once again be a low scoring game and that in the end, I'm going to want the points in this one. I'm taking UMass and the points.

UMass Minutemen +6
