The red hot Rhode Island Rams visit the Patriot Center to take the hardwood with the George Mason Patriots.
I would say the Rhode Island Rams are playing well at the right time but the facts are this team has performed well the entire season. The Rams have avoided losing streaks because they can score and defend and showed it in Wednesday's 75-59 rout of visiting Massachusetts. URI took a small first half lead before the offense scoring 47 points over the final 20 minutes to pull away. Both teams connected in the 46%-47% range but the Rams forced 18 turnovers and dominated the stripe 23-14. EC Matthews paced four double digit scorers with 16 points with Jared Terrell adding 14 points and five assists. Jarvis Garrett and Hassan Martin added 13 and eleven points with Hassan hauling in ten rebounds. Gilvydas Biruta and TJ Buchanan netted eight points apiece as there was no shortage of points.

The Atlantic Ten has not been kind to the George Mason Patriots who are sitting in next to last place with the conference playoffs being their last hope at redemption. The Patriots have not been able to get their scoring and defense on the same page and that has led to losses in five of six after an 80-68 defeat at the hands of visiting Fordham. GM led by four before the Rams went on a 50-34 tear behind 53% shooting and eleven bombs with the Patriots 43% accuracy and 3-13 mark from long range unable to hang with the visitors. Shevon Thompson led four players in double figures with 19 points and ten rebounds on 6-6 from the field with Marquise Moore adding 13 points and five assists. Isaiah Jackson and Patrick Holloway scored 12 points apiece to give the team plenty of options.
The Rams are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 vs. Atlantic 10. Rhode Island are 11-5 ATS in their last 16 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400 and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games. The Patriots are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS loss and 6-2-1 ATS in their last 9 Saturday games. George Mason are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games following a double-digit loss at home and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record. I'm going with my better team theory here...
