The San Jose State Spartans look to silence the Moby Arena crowd when they face the Colorado State Rams.
When I look at the San Jose State Spartans I see the obvious 2-24 record but I don't really pay much attention to the defensive numbers because that doesn't matter when a team averages less then 54 points. That was the case in Saturday's 74-56 defeat at the hands of visiting San Diego State in which the Spartans actually led by one heading in to the locker room. When the dust settled SJSU hit shots at 44% with eleven bombs but that couldn't compete with the Aztecs nearly 60% marksmanship. Winston Shepard gave the offense 20 points and six boards followed by a 15 point, six board performance from JJ O'Brien. Trey Kell tossed in 12 points while Aqeel Quinn and Malik Pope added seven points apiece.

At 23-5 the Colorado State Rams have one of the best record in the game but it is still 'just' 4th in the Mountain West. The Rams are looking to lock up a top four spot with three games remaining in the regular season The Rams haven't hurt their cause with wins in four of five that was capped off by a 66-53 win against visiting Air Force on Saturday as a 13 point lead at the half was maintained until the final horn. Both squads sank shots in the 43% range with CSU totaling ten more free throws which was the deciding factor. Daniel Bejarano led three double digit scorers with 20 points and seven boards with TJ Avila right on his heels with 18 points and seven more pulls. Joe De Ciman followed with 12 points while three others added between 5-6 points.
The Spartans are 19-43-3 ATS in their last 65 games overall and 16-40-3 ATS in their last 59 games following a S.U. loss. San Jose State are 7-18-1 ATS in their last 26 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600 and 4-12-1 ATS in their last 17 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600. The Rams are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 home games. Colorado State are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 home games vs. a team with a losing road record and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400. I wouldn't bet either to be honest but perhaps a first half play on the Rams?
