The Indiana State Sycamores face conference giant the #11 Wichita State Shockers at the Hulman Center.
I've heard that the Wichita State Shockers are not quite as good as we have seen in the past several seasons and that's true but it' difficult to find fault with a team that is number eleven in the country with a 25-3 record. The Shockers can still score and have the #9 ranked defense with both having a hand in their current six game winning streak. The Shockers are coming off of a 62-43 rout of visiting Evansville as a 15 point favorite on Sunday as a 30-14 lead at the intermission put this one away early. The Purple Aces had no chance with 31% shooting and a 1-12 mark on threes with WSU only hitting at 39% but posting nine more shots and going 10-17 from distance. Fred VanFleet did a bit of everything with 22 points, eight boards and five helpers with Ron Baker adding 18 points and 15 rebounds. Evan Wessel netted eleven points with the rest of the team also scoring eleven.

The Indiana State Sycamores are sitting in the third spot in the Missouri Valley but in my view it's more of the rest of the league being down then them being good. The Sycamores are just 14-14 overall and are outscored 68-67 while alternating DD wins and DD defeats over the last ten contests. ISU put everything together in Saturday's 78-58 rout of Southern Illinois where an early 14 point lead set the tone. The Salukis were held to under 41% marksmanship while Indiana State countered with 49% accuracy including 9-18 from down town. Brenton Scott led three double digit scorers with 17 points on 7-10 from the field followed by a 16 point five pull effort by Justin Gant. Devonte Brown netted ten points while Khristian Smith, Tre Bennett and Grant Prusator combined for 25 points with Smith and Bennett snagging 16 boards.
The Shockers are 19-7-1 ATS in their last 27 vs. Missouri Valley and 42-16-2 ATS in their last 60 games following a S.U. win. Wichita State are 42-16 ATS in their last 58 road games vs. a team with a winning home record and 41-16-4 ATS in their last 61 games following a ATS win. The Sycamores are 8-2-1 ATS in their last 11 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record and 7-2-1 ATS in their last 10 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600. Indiana State are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 home games and 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall. I would say this is a bad spot for the Shockers with UNI on deck for the MVC title but there won't be a title if they don't beat Indiana State...
