The Temple Owls look to rebound from a pair of poor perfomances when the Houston Cougars visit Philadelphia.
The Houston Cougars find themselves in the basement of the AAC courtesy of a five game slide where scoring struggles have really taken a heavy toll. Those struggles continued in a 63-53 defeat at the hands of visiting Cincinnati who went on a 38-25 run to erase a three point first half hole. The Bearcats held a 43.8%-38% shooting edge with UH giving the ball away 16 times but a 17-11 advantage at the stripe was pivitol for Cincy. The Cougars received 16 points and nine rebounds from Danrad Knowles on 5-7 from the field while Devonta Pollard and Jherrod Stiggers netting 13 points apiece. The issue was finding some secondary scoring with five players combining for eleven points.

The Temple Owls seemed to be the biggest threat to the AAC crown with six consecutive victories before losses to Tulsa and Southern Methodist cooled them off in a hurry. The Golden Hurricane dominated Temple 55-39 behind a suffocating defensive performance with the Owls sinking shots at less then 25% including a 1-14 effort from beyond the arc. The Owls defense was solid as well with Tulsa hitting at 37.5% but even that was far superior to the visitors accuracy. Will Cummings was the only double digit scorer on 5-7 marksmanship while Josh Brown and Jaylen Bond added six points apiece while posting eight and eleven rebounds respectively. Good defense or poor shooting not withstanding this was easily the Owls worse offensive effort in recent memory.
The Cougars are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a double-digit loss at home and 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record. Houston are 4-11 ATS in their last 15 vs. American Athletic Conference and 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600. The Owls are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 home games and 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record. Temple are 10-1 ATS in their last 11 games after scoring less than 50 points in their previous game and 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games overall. Temple had better halt the losing before the postseason and hopefully Houston is in the crosshairs...
