USA TODAY Sports

The Northern Illinois Huskies improved to 84-82 (5-10 MAC) on the season after defeating the Toledo Rockets, 84-82, this past Wednesday. Northern Illinois shot 52.3% from the field and 50.0% (9-18) from beyond the arc in the victory. Leading the way for the Huskies was Travon Baker who had 18 points, 4 rebounds, and 7 assists. Northern Illinois is ranked 211th in the RPI Standings and has played the 127th ranked SOS. On the season, the Huskies have been led by Aaric Armstead (11.2 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 1.5 spg) and Darrell Bowie (10.9 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 1.5 spg). Northern Illinois is averaging 65.8 ppg (ranked 211th) on 42.4% shooting (ranked 233rd). The Huskies average 5.2 three-pointers per game (ranked 276th) and commit 14.3 turnovers per game (ranked 304th).  Northern Illinois is holding their opponents to an average of 66.5 ppg (ranked 169th) on 44.4% shooting (ranked 252nd). The Huskies average 7.6 spg (ranked 50th) and have a rebound margin of 3.8 (ranked 71st).

The Chippewas are 9-4-2 ATS in their last 15 road games vs. a team with a winning road record and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Huskies are 18-6-4 ATS in their last 28 vs. Mid-American and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games.

Central Michigan has won six straight games and currently has the best record in all of the MAC conference. Northern Illinois snapped a 3 game losing streak with an upset victory at Toledo in which they were able to shoot 50% from long-range. Northern Illinois was able to hang tough against the Chippewas losing a close 68-66 battle at Central Michigan. The key in this game is whether or not Northern Illinois can limit the damage that Central Michigan does from beyond the arc. Northern Illinois can defend the three-pointer a bit however, I just don't see them putting together back-to-back strong performances on the offensive end. I'm going to roll with the Chippewas and hope that make enough three-pointers to cover this spread.
