The Niagara Purple Eagles hope to give the fans plenty to cheer about when the Fairfield Stags visit the Gallagher Center.
The Fairfield Stags had probably hoped for a finish somewhere in the middle of the MAAC standings but losses in eleven of 12 have the team just out of the conference cellar. The Stags have been outscored 66-61 which is a trend that has followed them throughout the league schedule. The Stags come off of a 72-65 defeat at Canisius where a late Golden Griffins surge broke a tie game. Canisius was clearly the better shooting team at 48% and oweb a +18 on the backboards but FF hung tough with 38% marksmanship because of 11-1 advantage from long range. Tyler Nelson led three double digit scorers with a game high 23 points on 7-12 shooting followed by Marcus Gilbert with 13 points. Mike Kirkland Jr. added ten points and five yanks while Steve Smith chipped in with nine points.

There was point in the season where I had serious doubts that the Niagara Purple Eagles could win back to back games because winning one was a task in itself. Now we have the Purple Eagles looking for their 4th straight victory after outscoring Canisius 82-71 on the road Tuesday as a 10.5 point underdog. A 51-36 second half run erased a four point hole as Niagara burned the nets with 60% marksmanship to easily outdistance the Golden Griffins 38.7% accuracy and their 17 more looks at the basket. Dominique Reed led five double figure scorers with 20 points and eight rebounds while Emile Blackman added 18 points, six pulls and six helpers. Ramone Snowden followed with 15 points and six yanks with Wesley Myers and Karonn Davis netting 14 points apiece.
The Stags are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 vs. Metro Atlantic Athletic. Fairfield are 13-5-2 ATS in their last 20 road games and 1-4-1 ATS in their last 6 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record. The Purple Eagles are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 home games following three or more consecutive road games and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a S.U. win. Niagara are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400 and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games. I hate to back Niagara as a favorite because they have won a few not ten in a row so let's not get carried away...
