The Robert Morris Colonials might not be the ultimate power in the NEC as we have seen in the past but they are still one of the top squads with an overall record of 16-14 and a conference mark of 12-6. The Colonials score and allow around 68 points but have stepped it up on offense in winning four of five to close the regular season. This team has faced the likes of Georgetown and North Carolina with zero success with their best win coming versus Louisiana-Monroe.
The Robert Morris offense is really a three pronged attack with Rodney Pryor and Marcquise Reed leading the way with 15 points apiece with Pryor being the second leading rebounder with 4.8while both shoot in the 48%-49% range. Lucky Jones is the third member of this high scoring trio at 15 points and a team high 6.3 rebounds but he can struggle with his shot at 38.5%. The rest of the offense is four points here, five points there with real designated third and 4th option.
The Wagner Seahawks bring in a 10-19 record which makes an 8-10 record in the conference seem not too bad. The Seahawks problem is getting outscored 73-68 and as I always say, life is difficult when opponents average more points then your offense which isn’t an earth shattering thought. The Seahawks have not beaten anybody noteworthy and haven’t tested themselves against bigger names and tend to struggle at both ends of the floor in defeats.
When Wagner needs a basket the ball generally lands in the hands of leading scorer Marcus Burton who averages 17.5 points on 40% accuracy. JoJo Cooper doesn’t score much but is one of the better passers in the conference with four assists. Romone Saunders, Stedman Allen and Corey Henson are the offensive dark horses on the scoring front with a combined 23 points and ten+ rebounds with one or two needing come through with some additional production.
The Seahawks are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 road games and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 road games vs. a team with a winning home record. The Colonials are 4-11 ATS in their last 15 games overall and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 Wednesday games. RMU are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400 and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record. The teams are sending mixed signals and I’m taking the points knowing RMU has blowout potential…
