The Eastern Washington Eagles find themselves third in the Big Sky but just a game off the conference lead with two to play so they must win both. The Eagles lean on their high powered offense hard but that wasn’t enough in Saturday’s 77-76 loss to visiting Montana that propelled the Grizzlies in to second. The Grizzlies held a slight 48%-46.6% shooting advantage in an even boxscore where the Eagles lost because of a 12-20 performance at the foul line. Tyler Harvey carried the offense with a game high 27 points on 9-16 from the floor followed by a 15 point, nine rebound and five assist effort from Drew Brandon. Venky Jois added ten points, eleven boards and five helpers while Parker Kelly chipped in with nine points.
The Idaho State Bengals 3-13 conference record doesn’t look good at all although it’s a bit deceiving with a number of close contests regardless of the strength of the competition. The Bengals have struggled to close the deal most of the time and failed to so in Saturday’s 61-57 defeat at Weber State for loss number four in a row. The Wildcats won the shooting battle 42.6%-42% but sank seven more threes and five more free throws to negate ten more look at the basket by Idaho State. Chris Hansen was the Bengals go to scorer with 22 points on 8-17 shooting with Jeffrey Solarin adding 17 points and a team high seven rebounds. Nnamdi Ezenwa contributed eight points and five yanks but the offense needed a few more options..
The Eagles are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games following a S.U. loss and 9-3 ATS in their last 12 Thursday games. Eastern Washington are 12-4 ATS in their last 16 road games and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400. The Bengals are 8-1 ATS in their last 9 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600 and 15-4-3 ATS in their last 22 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record. Idaho State are 8-3-1 ATS in their last 12 games following a S.U. loss and 18-40 ATS in their last 58 games following a ATS win. EWU can win by 20 but Idaho State does hang around…
