The Portland State Vikings looked like they were going on a season ending hot streak with three consecutive victories before a 73-60 home loss to first place Sacramento State ended the good times. The offense never found the groove and the Hornets took advantage with a 42-33 run over the final 20 minutes breaking open a competitive contest. Both team hit their shots at 46% with 17 giveaways hurting the Vikings although a 20-22 mark at the line paved the way to eleven more makes for the visitors which was decisive. Portland State received 13 points, eight boards and five assists from Tiegbe Bamba with DeShaun Wiggins adding eleven points and six pulls. Iziahiah Sweeney and Collin Spickerman netted nine points each with the latter snagging six pulls and blocking seven shots while Gary Winston adding eight points and eight helpers.
The Northern Arizona have been one of the hottest teams in the Big Sky over the past month or so that has the team looking at 4th in the conference. The Lumberjacks are looking to get back in the win column after falling at Northern Colorado 76-74 on Saturday to end a four game winning streak. NAU shot the ball better at 52% including a 7-16 performance from long range but 13 turnovers helped the Bears to eleven more looks which resulted in three more baskets which was the key number. Kris Yanku gave the offense 20 points, six pulls and six assists with Quinton Upshur tossing in 13 points on a combined 11-22 from the floor. Jordyn Martin followed with 12 points while Ako Kaluna and Aaseem Dixon combined for 21 points.
