It seems as if the Seton Hall Pirates have fallen off the map the last month or so with losses in seven of ten to drop them out of contention for a top four spot in the Big East. The scoring and defense have been all over the map in this stretch and had a hand in their 79-66 loss to visiting Providence where the Friars exploded for 50 second half points to erase an eight point deficit. The Pirates held a slight 46%-45% shooting edge including 10-23 from distance but visitors won it with a 29-8 margin at the stripe. Brandon Mobley and Isaiah Whitehead led a balanced attack with 13 points apiece with Sterling Gibbs tossing in eleven points. Khadeen Carrington and Haralds Karlis combined for 17 points while Angel Delgado added eight points and seven rebounds.
The Georgetown Hoyas have not been the national power they were years ago but they seem to be pushing in that direction with a 20 win season within their grasp capped off with a top four finish in the Big East. The Hoyas have been at the top of their game the past several weeks with wins in four of five after downing #21 Butler 60-54 on the road Tuesday. The Bulldogs offense never got going with just 35% shooting while the visitors connected at 46.5% which added up to a few more baskets which was all that was needed. D’Vauntes Smith-Rivera led all scorers with 16 points and seven boards on 5-9 from the floor while Tre Campbell and Joshua Smith netted ten points apiece. Jabril Trawick chipped in with nine points with seven players scoring overall.
The Pirates are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a double-digit loss at home and 11-3-1 ATS in their last 15 Saturday games. Seton Hall are 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS loss and 1-4-1 ATS in their last 6 games following a S.U. loss. The Hoyas are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 home games and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following a S.U. win. Georgetown are 2-10 ATS in their last 12 games following a ATS win and are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400. This is a big spread that is scaring me away but the Pirates have been losing big…
