While this was supposed to be a rebuilding year for the Montana Grizzlies the team must not have received the memo as they are third in the league. The Grizzlies have won six of seven after a 77-76 defeat of current Big Sky leader Eastern Washington on the road. The Grizzlies simply matched everything the Eagles did with a slight 48%-46.6% shooting edge. The game was decided at the foul line where Montana was 12-12 and EWU was 12-20 so the game was theirs to win. Martin Breunig was the Grizzlies top offensive weapon with 24 points and six assists on 9-11 from the field with Brandon Gfeller netting 15 points on 5-8. Mario Dunn Jr. and Jordan Gregory added eleven points apiece and combined for 13 rebounds while Fabijan Krslovic chipped in with eight points and nine boards.
The Montana State Bobcats are near the bottom of the conference standings in large part because they struggle at both ends of the floor. The Bobcats are coming off a rare offensive night albeit a losing one in an 80-73 defeat at Idaho. When this team breaks 70 points they have to win especially with just 40% accuracy to lean on. The Vandals 45.6% marksmanship proved to be the decisive factor as it added up to three more buckets. Marcus Colbert shouldered the scoring load with a game high 26 points and eight boards on 6-13 from the field which included five bombs. Michael Dison was next in line with 16 points and eight rebounds while Danny Robison added ten points and another six pulls. Stephan Holm chipped in with eight points eight players scoring altogether.
The Grizzlies are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of less than .400 and 5-1-1 ATS in their last 7 road games.Montana are 4-1-2 ATS in their last 7 games following a S.U. win and 4-1-2 ATS in their last 7 games overall. The Bobcats are 16-33-2 ATS in their last 51 games following a ATS win and 10-22 ATS in their last 32 vs. Big Sky. Montana State are 15-36-1 ATS in their last 52 Saturday games and 3-8 ATS in their last 11 home games vs. a team with a losing road record. Montana is hot and if they play as capable I’ll back them…
