The Northeastern Huskies look to capture the conference playoffs Tuesday night and go Dancing. The Huskies squeezed by Delaware in the quarters and then outlasted North Carolina-Wilmington 78-71 in the semifinals. Offense ruled the roost in this one with both teams sinking shots in the 48% range with a combined 15-31 effort from beyond the arc. Northeastern won it on the strength of a 17-21 performance at the stripe to sink six more freebies. Scott Eatherton led all scorers with 21 points and five yanks on 7-12 shooting while Devon Begley, Caleb Donnelly, Reggie Spencer and David Walker all scored eleven points with Walker leading the team on the glass with eight rebounds.
The William & Mary Tribe head to the Colonial Athletic title game for the second straight season. The Tribe had an easy go of it with a 72-59 win versus Elon before surviving a 92-91 thriller with Hofstra to advance to the championship. Each team sank shots at around 49% including a 24-59 combined effort from beyond the line. The Pride managed ten more looks at the basket to total five more baskets the Tribe turned 29 personals in to a 24-13 advantage with Hofstra shooting 52% at the stripe. Marcus Thornton saved W&M with a 37 point explosion with six pulls on 13-29 from the floor. Omar Prewitt was right on his heels with a 33 point, five yank effort while Terry Tarpley added 12 points and a contest high ten rebounds.
