The WAC is loaded with teams trying to get their feet wet in Division I college basketball and the Texas-Pan-American Broncs are one of those squads. The Broncs weren’t very successful at 10-20 and struggled in conference play with a 4-10 record. The problem was spelled out in the numbers with UTPA scoring 62 points and giving up 73 which doesn’t work anywhere especially when the offense was fortunate to crack 50 points.
For a team that really had some scoring issues it’s surprising to see three double digit scorers on the roster. Janari Joesaar was one of the best in the conference at 17 points and nearly seven rebounds on 46% from the floor with Shaquille Hines tossing in another 12 points and grabbing five boards on 50% shooting. Shaquille Boga netted 12 points but was only a 38% marksman. Dan Kimasa might be a guy might be a guy that can step up with more then his seven points and might need to with slim pickings after him.
The Missouri-Kansas City Kangaroos were not a bad conference team at 8-6 with a propensity for winning the white knucklers. Their 13-18 record says the team generally struggled overall. The Kangaroos were outscored 67-66 and shot almost 41% as a team while allowing 45%. Conference games were either close or routs with little in between.
When the Kangaroos needed a basket it was Martez Harrison who was taking the shot as he averaged almost 18 points and barely cracked 40% from the field. Frank Williams Jr. and Reese Holliday combined for over 17 points to give the starting line up some additional offense while DeShon Taylor added around seven points off the bench. The bench did provide minutes and produced overall with UMKC going ten deep with each seeing around ten minutes.
The Broncs are 7-1-1 ATS in their last 9 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record and are 1-4-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall. The Kangaroos are 6-2-1 ATS in their last 9 games overall. The WAC is hard to get a grip on so like I said Missouri-Kansas City wins big or doesn’t…
