The Davidson Wildcats and the Virginia Commonwealth Rams match up in an Atlantic Ten semifinal.
The Virginia Commonwealth Rams faced the Richmond Spiders for the third time this season in the A-10 quarterfinals but unlike the first two times the Rams won this one by a 70-67 count. Richmond was the far better shooting team at over 57% but VCU won it on 41.5% shooting because of a 10-21 effort on threes and an almost unbelievable 16-0 margin at the stripe. Melvin Johnson gave the offense 23 points on 7-14 shooting including a 5-9 performance from distance. JeQuan Lewis followed with ten points while Doug Brooks and Treveon Graham netted nine points each with Graham grabbing a game high eight rebounds.

The Davidson Wildcats trailed La Salle the entire game in the conference quarterfinals before heading to the locker room down by nine. They finally caught the Explores in the closing seconds to escape with a 67-66 victory. La Salle will be haunted by this result after sinking half their looks and holding the Wildcats to less then 39% from the floor. Davidson managed eight more looks and hit 14-35 from down town which was about the only area they excelled. Jack Gibbs led four double digit scorers with 22 points with five bombs with Tyler Kalinoski dropping 18. Brian Sullivan and Jordan Barham netted 12 points apiece with Barham and Peyton Alridge snagging eight rebounds each.
The Rams are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games following a S.U. win and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record. VCU are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games following a ATS win and 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games overall. The Wildcats are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games following a ATS loss and 17-5 ATS in their last 22 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600. Davidson are 16-5 ATS in their last 21 vs. Atlantic 10 and 21-7 ATS in their last 28 Saturday games.
It’s hard to imagine Davidson playing any worse then they did versus La Salle and hopefully they bounce back…
