The Ole Miss Rebels and the BYU Cougars will battle in the first round of the NCAA Tournament this Tuesday Night at University of Dayton Arena.

The Ole Miss Rebels finished the season with a 20-12 record (11-7 SEC) and was upset by South Carolina 60-58 in the second round of the SEC Tournament. Ole Miss lost 4 of their last 5 games of the season, however, did enough to still earn a bid to the NCAA Tournament.  The Rebels are ranked 55th in the RPI Standings and 36th in the BPI Standings. On the season, Ole Miss was led by Stefan Moody (16.3 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 2.2 apg) and Jarvis Summers (12.4 ppg, 1.8 rpg, 4.6 apg). Ole Miss is averaging 72.6 ppg (ranked 51st) on 42.6% shooting (ranked 219th). The Rebels are shooting 77.8% from the free-throw line (ranked 3rd) and have an assist/turnover ratio of 1.13 (ranked 98th). Defensively, Ole Miss is holding opponents to 67.5 ppg (ranked 197th) on 40.0% shooting (ranked 51st). The Rebels pull down 37.56 total rpg (ranked 38th) however, commit 11.3 turnovers per game.

BYU vs. Ole Miss - NCAA Tournament - 3/17/15 Pick, Odds, and Prediction

USA TODAY Sports

The BYU Cougars finished the season with a 25-9 record (13-5 WCC) and finished in 2nd place in the WCC. BYU has won 8 of their last 9 games before losing to the 7th ranked Gonzaga Bulldogs 91-75 the WCC Championship. The Cougars are ranked 38th in the RPI Standings and 30th in the BPI Standings. On the season, BYU has been led by Tyler Haws (21.9 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 2.3 apg) and Kyle Collinsworth (14.0 ppg, 8.7 rpg, 5.8 apg, 1.8 spg). BYU is averaging 83.6 ppg (ranked 2nd) on 46.7% shooting (ranked 45th). The Cougars are averaging 8.4 three-pointers per game (ranked 23rd) on 38.8% three-point shooting (ranked 27th). Defensively, BYU is allowing 72.6 ppg (ranked 310th) on 43.5% shooting (ranked 202nd). The Cougars are holding teams to 32.8% shooting from beyond the arc (ranked 99th) and have a turnover margin of 1.4 (ranked 82nd).

The Rebels are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games following a S.U. loss however, just 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games overall.  The Cougars are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record and 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games overall.

BYU and Ole Miss had to sweat it out on Sunday night to see if they would have a chance, and luckily for both teams, they heard their name called. BYU is one of the most talented offensive teams in the country as they have a great playmaker in Kyle Collingsworth and scorer in Tyler Haws. Ole Miss has a dangerous outside shooter in Stefan Moody and great player maker of their own in Jarvis Summers. I think the difference in this one is going to be the outside shooting and as Ole Miss struggles defending three-pointer while BYU defends the three well, I think BYU will be able to pour on the points and cover this spread. Take BYU to cover in this one.
