The St. Francis BRK Terriers and Richmond Spiders will face at the Robins Center this Wednesday night in the 1st round of NIT.
The St. Francis BRK Terriers finished the regular season with a 23-11 (15-3 NEC) after losing 66-63 to the Robert Morris Colonials in the NEC Championship. The Terriers still have to be disappointed not winning the NEC Championship as they now still one of the five original division I teams that have never made it to the NCAA Tournament. St. Francis BRK is ranked 170th in the RPI Standings and 163 in the BPI Standings. On the season, the Terriers have been led by Jalen Cannon (16.4 ppg, 10.4 rpg, 1.0 apg) and Brent Jones (13.9 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 5.3 apg, 1.9 spg). St. Francis BRK is averaging 68.9 ppg (ranked 133rd) on 41.6% shooting (ranked 267th). The Terriers average 5.6 three-pointers per game (ranked 249th) and 13.1 turnovers per game (ranked 233rd). Defensively, St. Francis BRK is holding their opponents to 64.1 ppg (ranked 111th) on 42.2% shooting (ranked 135th). The Terriers pull down 39.0 total rpg (ranked 14th) and have a rebound margin of 6.8 (ranked 17th).

The Richmond Spiders finished the regular season 19-13 (12-6 A-10) after being defeated by the VCU Rams 70-67 in the quarterfinals of the A-10 Tournament. Richmond made a strong push for the NCAA Tournament by winning their previous 6 games before falling to the VCU Rams, and probably has to feel that if they were able to hang on against VCU they would be in the NCAA Tournament. Richmond is ranked 59th in the RPI Standings and 59th in the BPI Standings. On the season, the Spiders have been led by Kendall Anthony (16.6 ppg, 1.8 rpg, 2.4 apg, 1.0 spg) and Terry Allen (12.4 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 1.4 apg, 1.4 spg). Richmond is averaging 65.4 ppg (ranked 217th) on 45.7% shooting (ranked 72nd). The Spiders average 6.8 three-pointers per game (ranked 122nd) and have a 1.34 assist/turnover ratio (ranked 27th). Defensively, Richmond is holding their opponents to 60.5 ppg (ranked 40th) on 41.9% shooting (ranked 117th). The Spiders average 7.1 spg (ranked 71st) and have a turnover margin of 3.6 (ranked 9th).
The Terriers are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS loss. The Spiders are 9-2-1 ATS in their last 12 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record and 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games overall.
The St. Francis BRK Terriers have some good size to them which will cause Richmond trouble as although they are a great defensive team, they are small in the front-court. I was disappointed that Richmond didn’t make the NCAA Tournament as I thought they could have made some damage, however, I feel that St. Francis BRK is going to be able to slow down this game a bit and use their size to their advantage. I think Richmond will advance but I’m taking St. Francis BRK and the points in this one.
