The Baylor Bears bring a 24-9 record and a 12-8 conference mark in a very tough Big 12. The Bears have some very impressive numbers with 70 points scored and 60 points given up and especially so given their fourth ranked strength of schedule. Stephen F. Austin was the lone top 50 team faced in the non conference schedule which mattered little with the Big 12 packed with highly ranked squads. Scoring was not an issue with four players cracking double figures with Taurean Prince leading the way at almost 14 points and five boards. Kenny Chery and Rico Gathers added over eleven points with Royce O’Neale tossing in ten while Gathers were a force on the backboards with over eleven rebounds.
The Georgia State Panthers won the regular season Sun Belt crown and then defeated instate and conference rival Georgia Southern in the conference title game. The Panthers ended the season 24-9 with a hefty 17-5 league mark. While this season probably wasn’t as good as last year the numbers were outstanding with 72 points scored on 48% shooting while giving up 62 points on 38%. The Panthers did not face many name teams but lost to Iowa State and Colorado State by double figures. Georgia State is led by the dynamic tandem of Ryan Harrow and RJ Hunter with both averaging over 19 points which is over half of the offensive output and needs to continue.
The Panthers are 4-11 ATS in their last 15 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600 and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games after allowing less than 50 points in their previous game. Georgia State are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 non-conference games and 0-3-1 ATS in their last 4 games after scoring less than 50 points in their previous game. The Bears are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record and 9-3-1 ATS in their last 13 games following a ATS loss. Baylor are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 non-conference games and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games overall. This line seems low, almost too low…
