USA TODAY Sports

The Alabama Crimson Tide were not a consideration for the NCAA tournament and right now Illinois is the team regretting that. The Crimson Tide dismantled the Illini 79-58 in a contest that was never close with Bama taking a 24 point lead in to the locker room and never looking back. Illinois was limited to 32% shooting which nullified 18 more looks at the basket while the Crimson Tide burned the nets at nearly 60% which equaled seven more baskets which included more threes and free throws. Levi Randolph paced the offense with 20 points, seven boards and five assists with Rodney Cooper netting 19 points with both combining for 13-20 from the floor. Retin Obasohan followed with 15 points and seven rebounds while Justin Coleman chipped in with ten points.

The Miami Hurricanes seemed to be poised to pull away from North Carolina Central on several occasions but could never put the Eagles away and had to settle for a 75-71 decision in their NIT opener on Tuesday. The Canes were up nine at the break with the Eagles shooting the ball well at 53% to sink four more baskets then the 50% shooting Hurricanes. This game was decided at the charity stripe where Miami hit 23-25 for 12 more makes  which was decisive. Manu Lecomte was the go to scorer with 18 points followed by Sheldon McClellan with 15 points on 4-7 accuracy. Tonye Jekiri added eleven points and six boards on 5-9 from the floor while Deandre Burnett and Ivan Cruz Uceda scored ten and eight points.

The Crimson Tide are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 road games and  8-3 ATS in their last 11 road games vs. a team with a winning home record and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600 and  15-7-2 ATS in their last 24 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600. The Hurricanes are 12-5 ATS in their last 17 vs. Southeastern and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games overall. Miami are 1-4-1 ATS in their last 6 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400 and  1-4 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record.
