The Cornell Big Red will travel to play the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in the season opening game for both of these teams.
The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets were 12-19 last season and will look to put a better team on the court this season. Georgia Tech’s best player, Marcus Georges-Hunt, is returning and will look to be one of the better players in the ACC this year. Georges-Hunt averaged 13.6 points per game, 1.8 assists per game, and 5.5 rebounds per game. Charles Mitchell is also returning for Georgia Tech who averaged 9.8 points per game and 7 rebounds per game. These two players will provide experience and good leadership for a Georgia Tech team who was second to last in scoring in the ACC last season. This Georgia Tech team should be better than last season’s team and it will be interesting to see how they matchup against Cornell.

The Cornell Big Red were 13-17 last season and finished 6th in the Ivy league. Cornell graduated their best player, Shonn Miller, who averaged 16.8 points per game and 8.5 rebounds per game. This is a big loss for Cornell, but they will look to fill that void with their second leading scorer last season, Robert Hatter. Hatter averaged 11.3 points per game and 2.7 rebounds per game. However, Cornell also lost their third and fourth leading scorers, leaving a lot of room for the Cornell supporting cast from last year to step up into larger roles this season. Cornell has a lot of question marks this season, so it will be fun to watch who will step up and be a leading player for them.
Cornell finished 1-5-1 ATS in their last 7 games last season. Cornell also finished 0-4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games of last year. The under is 4-1 in Cornell’s last 5 games against the ACC. Georgia Tech is 10-3-1 ATS in their last 14 Friday games. The under is 5-0 in Georgia Tech’s last 5 home games.
Georgia Tech is returning their best player from last season and that should give them the leadership they need to start this season on a high note. Cornell has too many question marks on their team this season, as they only return one of their top 4 scorers from last year. I am taking Georgia Tech in this game.
