The Tennessee-Martin Skyhawks and Oklahoma State Cowboys open their season Friday at the Gallagher-Iba Arena.
The Tennessee-Martin Skyhawks hope for another successful season under Heath Schroyer are winning 21 games last year. Twymond Howard leads UTM after averaging 13.6 points and 6.6 rebounds while Alex Anderson averaged 12.5 points and 1.9 assists. Myles Taylor is the third double-digit scorer and Javier Martinez grabbed 3.8 rebounds. The Tennessee-Martin Skyhawks are sure to go through a few growing pains with the losses of Deville Smith and Marshun Newell. However, UTM gets back a healthy Taylor and still has a game changer in Howard. Tennessee-Martin is an experienced and deep team that should be able to put pressure on the rest of the Ohio Valley by pushing for 20-plus wins for the third time in school history.

The Oklahoma State Cowboys look for a fourth straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament under Travis Ford. Phil Forte will lead OSU after averaging 15 points and 2.1 rebounds while Jeff Newberry averaged 6.7 points and 2.3 rebounds. Jeffrey Carroll grabbed 1.8 rebounds and Tavarius Shine shot 31.8 percent from deep. The Oklahoma State Cowboys lost a ton of talent and depth from last season, which includes Le'Bryan Nash and Anthony Hickey Jr. However, Forte is one of the top shooters in the Big 12, and Jawun Evans is a freshman who has the skill set to takeover games. Also, Newberry should take another step forward with a season now under his belt. The OK State Cowboys have enough in place to be that sneaky good team in the Big 12 once again.
The Skyhawks are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games. The Cowboys are 14-5 ATS in their last 19 home games and 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games overall.
Oklahoma State will be a more consistent team than it was last season, which is good considering the Cowboys were great at covering numbers at home. While Tennessee-Martin has a top heavy team, the Cowboys are just better across the board. I like OK State to take this game by double digits.
