The Pittsburgh Panthers and The Gonzaga Bulldogs will go overseas to kickoff their season in Camp Foster, Okinawa, Japan.
The Gonzaga Bulldogs are coming off of a 35-3 season where they were eliminated in the Elite 8 against Duke. The Bulldogs return 3 of their 4 best players from last year’s team. Senior Forward Kyle Wiltjer returns after his best season with the Zags. Last season he averaged 16.8 points a game, 6.2 rebounds, and 1.9 assists while shooting 46% from the 3pt line. One of the nations biggest Center returns for Gonzaga Senior Przemek Karnowski who stands 7-1 and weighs over 290 pounds. Last season he was a big presence down low averaging 10.9 points a game, 5.8 rebounds, and shooting 62% from the field. Sophomore Domantas Sabonis returns after a big freshmen year averaging 9.7 points a game and 7.1 rebounds a game. It will be hard to repeat last year’s performance but they certainly have the talent to do so. Gonzaga will be challenged early in their first game against a good Pittsburgh team on a neutral floor.

The Pittsburgh Panthers are coming off a disappointing season where a first round loss in the NIT tournament summed up their season. Luckily for Pittsburgh they will return their two best players in Jamel Artis and Michael Young. The 6 foot 7 Junior Forward Jamel Artis returns after averaging 13.6 points a game, 6.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists. Arits’s counter partner returns as well Junior Forward Michael Young who last season averaged 13.4 points a game, 7.3 rebounds and shot over 50% from the field. These two men who averaged over 30 minutes again will have to lead this Panthers team this season. Unfortunately Pittsbrugh will face one of their toughest challenges of the season in their opener against 9th ranked Gonzaga.
The Pittsburgh Panthers are 0-4 against the spread in their last 4 non-conference games. Pittsburgh is 2-5 against the spread in their last 7 neutral site games. Gonzaga is 1-5-1 against the spread in their last 7 vs. the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Bulldogs are 3-1-1 against the spread in their last 5 Friday Games.
The Gonzaga Bulldogs are year in and year out one of the best teams in the nation. Gonaga return a bunch of their starters and should be set for another good season. Gonzaga knows they have to win these kind of non-conference games to strengthen their resume. Pittsburgh was not that good last year but have some returning players so they should be improved. However in this game Gonzaga has to much for Pittsburgh to handle. Even on the neutral site take the Zags to cover.
