The Line: USC Trojans -11.5 -- Over/Under 140.5 See the Latest Odds
The USC Trojans will open up their season at home hosting San Diego.
The USC Trojans are coming off of a 12-20 season where they went 3-15 in conference play. However that was a young USC team last year and they return all of their starters. Katin Reinhardt was their leading point scorer last year averaging 12.5 points and 2.4 rebounds while shooting 38% from the 3point line. Nikola Jovanovic is their big man averaging 12.3 points per game and 7.0 rebounds. USC will be a much more experienced team this year and could make some noise in a tough Pac-12. They will have an easier game to open the season against San Diego at home.

The San Diego Toreros are coming off of a 15-16 season where they failed to make any post season tournaments. It doesn’t get any better for San Diego as they lose their top 3 scorers from last season. The Toreros will have lean heavily on Senior Guard Duda Sanadaze who only averaged 6.6 points per game and 2.4 rebounds while only playing 17.6 minutes a game. San Diego also returns Forward Brandon Perry who averaged 6.2 points per game and 3.4 rebounds while only playing 13.2 minutes a game. San Diego will be very inexperienced this season and it could lead to a long year. San Diego will have a tough test right out of the gates against USC on the road.
San Diego is 4-1 against the spread in their last 5 non-conference games. The Toreros are 1-4 against the spread in their last 5 games overall. USC is 9-4 against the spread in their last 13 games vs. a West Coast team. The Trojans are 0-5 against the spread in their last 5 Friday games.
Both of these teams are coming off bad seasons. San Diego lost their top 3 scorers from last season just to make it harder for them. USC on the other hand returns all of their starters and have more experience. USC should be able to take care of business here. Take USC to cover at home.
