The UL-Monroe Warhawks will travel to play the Minnesota Golden Gophers in a non-conference game on Sunday.
The Minnesota Golden Gophers are coming off of a 76-58 win against the UMKC Kangaroos on Friday night. Minnesota actually started out pretty slow in their opening game but was able to turn it on and win comfortably at the end. Minnesota was able to outscore their opponent by 16 in the second half after only being up 2 at the half. Joey King led the scoring for Minnesota with 22 points (6-9 from three point range) and 4 rebounds. Carlos Morris also added 13 points and 5 rebounds for Minnesota. Minnesota shot 70% from the free throw line, 42.9% from three points range, and 45.5% of all of their field goal attempts. Minnesota was actually out rebounded in this game that could cause problems down the road for the Golden Gophers. Minnesota will look to improve on this victory against UL-Monroe on Sunday.

The UL-Monroe Warhawks are coming off of a win against the McMurry Indians on Friday night by a score of 88-43. UL-Monroe was clearly the better team in this one, which is saying much given their opponent, as they were up 43-12 at halftime. Majok Deng and DeMondre Harvey led UL-Monroe with 14 points and 6 rebounds each. Prince Cooper was able to add 12 points and 7 rebounds for the Warhawks. UL-Monroe shot 70.8% on free throws, 50% on three pointers, and 62.3% of all field goal attempts in their opener. UL-Monroe is returning four starters from their team last year that will provide them with great leadership and experience in the early portion of their season. UL-Monroe will have their hands full at Minnesota on Sunday.
