The Cal Poly Mustangs pay a visit to instate rival the UCLA Bruins on Sunday night.
The Cal Poly Mustangs took a disappointing 74-72 loss to UNLV in the season opener for both teams. The Mustangs were frustrated and the Rebels were breathing a sigh of relief as they outshot CP 45%-40% but were just 25-40 at the stripe. The Mustangs hung tough because of 14 more shots with 19 forced turnovers but needed slightly better shooting. Joel Awich and David Nwaba paced the Mustangs offense with 15 points apiece while Reese Morgan and Taylor Sutlive tossed in 12 points and eleven points respectively. A 7-25 effort on threes was the Mustangs downfall.

The UCLA Bruins suffered the first big upset of the season in an 84-81, overtime loss to visiting Monmouth of the MAAC on opening day. Neither team shot the ball well at under 38% but the Bruins huge +22 on the glass was partially negated with a hefty 23 giveaways. This probably should have never gone to overtime both going 15-for 50 from long range. Bryce Alford tossed in a game high 22 points with five pulls and five yanks while Tony Parker pumped in 19 points and hauled in 19 rebounds. Thomas Welsh added 12 points and ten boards and Aaron Holiday chipped in with ten points with seven pulls but six turnovers.
Cal Poly are 1-6-1 ATS in their last 8 Sunday games and the under is 10-3-1 in their last 14 road games while the over is 7-3 in their last 10 non-conference games. UCLA are 9-3 ATS in their last 12 home games and are 12-5 ATS in their last 17 games overall while the under is 18-8 in UCLA last 26 overall. UCLA might come out with some fire but I’ll back experience here…
