The Line: Butler -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
The Temple Owls and Butler Bulldogs play Friday afternoon at the Roberto Clemente Coliseum.
The Temple Owls are coming off a 75-70 win over Minnesota and hopes to get a game above a .500 record. In the victory, Temple shot 38.3 percent from the field and made 10 threes. Jaylen Bond had 19 points and eight rebounds while Devin Coleman had 15 points and five rebounds. While Temple executed offensively, it’s the defense that’s going to lead the Owls this season. The Temple Owls are a grind-it-out team that crashes the boards well and makes things tough defensively. If Temple can stroke the long ball like it did against Minny, the Owls will be a force in the AAC this season. Temple has now won four of its last five regular season games and that one loss came to North Carolina.
USA TODAY Sports
The Butler Bulldogs are 2-0 and are coming off a Thursday victory over Missouri State. In the win over the Bears, Butler shot 60 percent from the field and turned the ball over only eight times. Andrew Chrabascz leads the Bulldogs with 18 points and two assists while Kelan Martin had 18 points and three rebounds. The Butler Bulldogs have scored 237 points in their first two games and are also playing that above-average defense the program has been known for. Butler is playing clean ball at both ends and is looking like the team to beat in the Big East. Butler has now won 10 of its last 13 regular season games.
The Owls are 11-3 ATS in their last 14 games following a S.U. win and 2-7 ATS in their last 9 neutral site games.. The Bulldogs are 20-8 ATS in their last 28 non-conference games and 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall.
There's no line yet and posting a pick when the line comes out would be pointless due to the quick turnaround. So, I'm going to side with Temple keeping this game within single digits. The Owls are experienced and play great defense. I think Temple will be able to keep this game close.
