The Northwestern Wildcats look to stay perfect when the Columbia Lions come to town.
The Columbia Lions have drawn plenty of attention in the Ivy League but after an 81-71 defeat to Kansas State we know they have a long way to go on the national stage. The Lions weren’t completely outclassed but they couldn’t stop the Wildcats offense who sank half their looks. Columbia did well with 46% shooting and hit six more free throws so this wasn’t easy for K-State. Luke Petrasek paced four double digit scorers with 19 points and eight rebounds followed by a 16point effort from Alex Rosenberg. Maodo Lo netted 12 points and six assists with Grant Mullins logging eleven points before fouling out in 27 minutes.

The Northwestern Wildcats were expected to win their first two games and did just that after downing Fairfield 79-72. Having said that I thought the Stags hung around better then expected as they trailed by ten at the break and just wouldn’t go away. N’Western won the shooting battle 44%-41% which ended up being three more field goals in a competitive contest. Northwestern received a game high 20 points, five yanks and five helpers from Bryant McIntosh with Tre Demps tossing in 14 points on 4-16 shooting. Aaron Falzon and Alex Olah netted 13 and eleven points respectively and Scottie Lindsey chipped in with eight points.
The under is 7-2 in Columbia’s last 9 non-conference games and is 15-6 in their last 21 road games. We haven’t seen enough of either team to make a clear judgment but from all my research I think Columbia isn’t bad…
