The Princeton Tigers look for their second win when the Saint Peter’s Peacocks visit.
The Saint Peter’s Peacocks could use a bit of good fortune after suffering a pair of tough defeats to fall to 1-2. The Peacocks lost in overtime to Lafayette and followed that with a 67-66 defeat to Hartford. SPC led the Hawks by nine at the break but were failed by their scoring and defense in the second half. The Peacocks were hurt by 39.7% shooting while Hartford countered with 45.5% accuracy including a 9-20 mark on threes. Chaz Peterson topped the Peacocks attack with 16 points followed by a 12 point, eleven rebound effort from Quadir Walton while Rodney Hawkins and Elsha Boone netted ten points apiece.
It’s been awhile since Princeton has taken down a big name program and it could be awhile longer with the team supposed to finish in the middle of the Ivy League. The Tigers opened the season with a 64-56 victory against Rider behind adequate offense and outstanding defense. The Tigers connected at 40% from the floor but held the Broncs to just 36.8% and sank a few more threes and free throws to pull this out. Devin Cannady led all scorers with 17 points and five yanks with Spencer Weisznext in line with 13 points and six boards and eight assists. Henry Caruso and Pete Miller each tossed in nine points with Miller snagging 12 rebounds.
Saint Peter’s are 6-2-1 ATS in the last 10 versus the Ivy League. Princeton are 6-14 ATS in their last 20 games. I’m not sure what either team has at this point but I believe if Rider stayed reasonably close versus Princeton the Points might be the best way to go…
