The Kansas Jayhawks open the Maui Invitational with the Chaminade Silverswords.
The #5 Kansas Jayhawks look to bounce back from a 79-73 loss to the Michigan State Spartans that evened their record at 1-1. The Jayhawks held a six point lead heading in to the locker room before the defense faded over the final 20 minutes with the Spartans putting up 44 points. MSU connected at nearly 47% but committed 15 turnovers while KU struggled to less to less then 35% and owned a 24-14 edge at the stripe to stay close. Perry Ellis led three double digit scorers with 21 points and six pulls with Frank Mason tossing in 14 points and snagging five pulls while Wayne Selden Jr. added 12 points.

The Chaminade Silverswords are never heard from unless it’s the Maui Invitational which has them on the national stage with many big names. What we do know is the score first Silverswords like to shoot from the perimeter although that hasn’t helped them as a 112-102 loss to Alaska-Anchorage has the team staring at an 0-2 start. As is usually the cast h Silverswords fired away from the land of three with 18 threes although they allowed 16. Oscar Pedroso scored a career high 23 points followed closely by James Harper wit 21 points. Kevin Hu and Kuany Kuany each netted 12 points while Kiran Shastri chipped in with eleven points.
The Jayhawks will cover if they choose but win big in any case because Chaminade won’t have the size or strength to do much on the inside. The Silverswords scoring will come on the perimeter but Kansas will score from anywhere and I probably prefer their team total when it comes out…
