The San Diego State Aztecs were shocked by the Arkansas-Little Rock Trojans losing a low scoring 49-43 battle last Saturday and dropped to 2-2 (0-0 MW). San Diego State struggled offensively throughout the whole game as they scored just 19 points in the first half and was only able to outscore the Trojans by a 24-23 margin in the 2nd half. San Diego State shot just 28.3% from the field and 25.0% (6-24) from beyond the arc. The Aztecs held the Trojans to 35.3% shooting from the field and outrebounded Arkansas-Little Rock by a 42-28 margin however, committed 16 turnovers in the loss. Leading the way for San Diego State was Dakarai Allen who had 11 points and 7 rebounds from off the bench. On the season, San Diego State has been led by Jeremy Hemsley (13.0 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 2.5 apg), Dakarai Allen (11.5 ppg, 4.0 rpg), and Skylar Spencer (4.5 ppg, 5.5 rpg). Offensively, San Diego State is shooting 41.0% from the field however, have a 0.64 assist/turnover ratio. Defensively, the Aztecs are holding opponents to 35.0% shooting and have a rebound margin of 7.3.
The Pirates are 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 road games vs. a team with a winning home record and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 non-conference games. The Aztecs are 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 Monday games however, just 3-7-1 ATS in their last 11 non-conference games.
San Diego State is always one of the best defensive teams in the county however, have been known to struggled offensively as they did against Arkansas-Little Rock. East Carolina has been impressive so far in the young season and although they didn’t get the win, gave the talented California Bears all they could handle. East Carolina has gotten some great production from Caleb White and as I think their zone defense will give the Aztecs trouble on the offensive end, I think the Pirates will be able to keep this one within the number. Take East Carolina and the points.
