The UNLV Rebels and Chaminade Silverswords square off Tuesday afternoon at the Lahaina Civic Center.
The UNLV Rebels are coming off a tough 77-75 loss to UCLA on Monday. In the loss, UNLV shot 41.3 percent from the field and forced 19 turnovers. Patrick McCaw led the Rebels with 20 points and three assists while Jerome Seagears had 12 points and three steals. The UNLV Rebels are proving to be a solid young basketball team, as they started the year with three straight wins and just went toe-to-toe with one of the better Pac-12 teams. UNLV just needs to take better care of the basketball and be a little more consistent on the offensive end. Still, the UNLV Rebels play hard for 40 minutes and are one of the better defensive clubs with their full court press.

The Chaminade Silverswords were waxed by Kansas on Monday, 123-72. In the loss, Chaminade allowed 64.4 percent shooting and grabbed just 26 rebounds. Rohndell Goodwin led the Silverswords with 15 points and three rebounds while Kiran Shastri had 17 points and two steals off the bench. The Chaminade Silverswords have yet to win a game this season but these type of matchups will give them a huge advantage as they dig deeper into their schedule. Chaminade shoots a solid 71.6 percent from the free throw line and has a very experienced team. Chaminade now just has to find some consistent offense, as 37.9 percent shooting from the field simply isn’t going to cut it.
UNLV has far better atheltes and that pressure defense is sure to give the Silverswords a major issue. Look for the Rebels to win this game in a blowout just like Kansas did.
