The Miami (OH) Redhawks used a strong 2nd half to defeat the Northeastern Huskies 67-61 this past Sunday to improve to 3-2 (0-0 MAC) on the season. Miami (OH) used a 21-5 run midway through the 2nd half to take control of the game and secure the victory. Miami (OH) shot 46.8% from the field but struggled from beyond the arc hitting just 20.0% (2-10) of their three-pointers. The Redhawks held the Huskies to just 18.2% (4-22) three-point shooting and forced Northeastern into committing 18 turnovers. Leading the way for Miami (OH) was Geovonie McKnight who had 17 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals. On the season, the Redhawks have been led by Eric Washington (12.0 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 6.0 apg, 2.0 spg), Geovonie McKnight (11.4 ppg, 2.6 rpg), and Rod Mills (10.2 ppg, 2.0 rpg). Miami (OH) is currently shooting 43.9% from the floor on the year while averaging 6.2 three-pointers per game. The Redhawks are allowing opponents to shoot 41.0% from the floor and average 8.2 steals per game.
The Mastodons are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 road games vs. a team with a winning home record and 47-19-4 ATS in their last 70 games overall. The Red Hawks are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record however, just 3-10 ATS in their last 13 non-conference games.
IFPW lost their top two scorers from last season but have one of the better backcourts in the Summit led by Mo Evans and Max Landis. Miami (OH) has played well early in the season as they played Xavier tough on the road and just beat a very good Northeastern team. Miami (OH) has a great combination with Eric Washington and Geovonie McKnight however, this will be the 4th game and 5 nights for the Redhawks and as IFPW has an efficient offense that can put up points, I think they pull off the upset on the road. I’m taking IFPW to win this one.
